COCAINE FOUND IN JUICING MACHINE

Edition: 321

An organisation which was allegedly distributing cocaine to bars and similar establishments has been broken up by the authorities, and several r people have been arrested. Investigations into the network began after Guardia Civil officers at Madrid’s Barajas Airport decided to check a consignment of almost two tons of bananas which had arrived from Caracas. They discovered a steel juicing machine among the fruit, which the person in charge of the consignment was reluctant to let them take apart. The machine was to be collected at El Altet airport in Alicante by somebody who lived in Murcia, so the Guardia Civil arranged for a watch to be kept to identify the recipient when they turned up. When officers opened the juicing machine they discovered it had a false bottom and contained three kilos of high quality cocaine. The person who tried to collect the item at El Altet was detained, as were two Colombian bar owners in Murcia who the police believe were planning to distribute the drugs among local establishments.
