SPANISH WOMAN DENIED FREEDOM IN US

A New Jersey court has refused to free Maria Jose Carrascosa who has been in jail there for the last six months, charged with kidnapping her daughter. Sra Carrascosa refuses to allow the 7-year-old girl to visit her American father, who has joint custody, because of his violent character. She has also accused him of trying to poison her with insecticides. The girl is with Sra Carrascosa's family in Spain. The New Jersey judge has advised her lawyer to seek for an intermediary who can help resolve the conflict which has arisen basically because of differences between US and Spanish law.
