UNDER 25 TRY TO BEAT DRINK - DRIVING

At least a third of Spaniards under the age of 25 still believe they can beat a drunk-driving rap if they stop drinking alcoholic beverages an hour before they plan to get behind the wheel, according to the latest Traffic Authority statistics. While more than 90% approve of responsible, that is, non-drinking drivers in theory, in practice the majority fail to check if the person driving them home has been drinking or not. The number of fatal road accidents in recent weeks has risen in comparison with the same period last year, and most of them have involved young people.
