Twenty four people died in 18 traffic accidents between 3 p.m. on Wednesday, ( the start of the special traffic operation for the May holiday weekend, ) and 8 p.m. on Friday. Twenty people were seriously injured and a further eight suffered slight injuries in the same accidents.
