Edition: 324
Date: 26-05-03

A group of 67 Iraqi schoolchildren arrived in Granada on Friday, to complete this year’s education. The group of 29 girls and 38 boys disembarked from the plane from Basora dressed in school uniform, carrying the Iraqi flag and a banner bearing a greeting to Spain. The children, who are aged between nine and 11, were accompanied by nine teachers and will spend 20 days at the Armilla air base to complete their academic course. Their trip to finish their studies in peace was arranged by members of the Spanish Air Force who are on humanitarian duties in Iraq, and the group are excited at the chance to learn about Spain and its culture as well as to complete their school term after the disruption of the recent war. The group is from the Yahwuid school in Um Qasar, where the Spanish forces are based.
