TORERO HAS CLOSE BRUSH WITH DEATH

Torero Jesulín de Ubrique came uncomfortably close to having a brush with death last Thursday afternoon in Malaga's La Malagueta bullring. He was walking away from the bull after apparently subjecting it to his will but instead of waiting quietly for him to despatch it to the next world, it charged him from behind. Before his helpers could get the bull away from him, it had managed to gore him in the groin and in the side and give him a nasty blow to the abdomen. Jesulín was rushed to the ring's small surgery and appeared minutes later, bare-footed and wearing the blood-stained green trousers the medics had put on him, to finish off the bull. The jacket of his "suit of lights" was also blood-stained. Fortunately the wounds were not serious and he was completely out of danger by Saturday.
